03 ~ [Voice/Action] Shiny!

[Having been gone for nearly a month now, Lance wakes up just feet from the shore of one of the rivers near the edge of town. The first thing he notices is a splitting headache, and when he opens his eyes he has to squeeze them shut again against the bright afternoon sun. With a groan, he sits up with a hand to his head, just as a sudden and vicious wave of nausea hits. Since his stomach is empty, the dragon master ends up dry heaving for a minute or two before the pain starts to ebb away. He can't remember the last time he felt so ill.

His hand then falling on his journal, he squints at it for a few moments before flipping it open. His voice sounds a bit hoarse as he starts to speak.]

I don't know how long it's been, but I'm back. Has... anything happened while I've been gone?

[Those that know him will notice there's something a bit... off. Other than being pale and a little sickly looking, Lance's hair is also no longer red. It's now a bright, almost electric, blue. His eyes have also changed from gold to red. While the journal might not show it very well, even his clothes are different colors. He has yet to actually notice it himself. ]

[Eventually, Lance is able to get himself up and walk into the village. He's heading back towards the community housing #6 building. Those that see him will also notice a green, bipedal dragon following him. Also, if the sun hits them just right they even... sparkle a little bit.]

(( OOC: Lance is back from his mallynap and he and his Pokemon have been turned into... shinies. Their colors are completely different from what they were before they left. Here are some sprites to show what I mean.))

The Malnosso decided to steal me away. How long have I been gone?

Well over a month now.

[For a few moments, Lance can only stare at his journal, wondering if he'd heard right.]

A month?

Yeah. Pretty much.

[There's some scuffling sounds and Lance fumbles around for his Pokeballs. He has to make sure his Pokemon are okay. There's also the sound of a Pokemon being released.]

Dragonite... you're... green!

Maybe he's a little airsick? [snicker.]

[His other two Pokemon are released as well. And he heard that snicker, Silver.]

I hardly think that's funny. And it doesn't explain why my Charizard is black or my Aerodactyl is purple.

Jeez, take a joke, would y-

[Wait.]

Your Pokemon are...wait, what's that called? I remember some old guy talking about "differently colored Pokemon"...

[You wouldn't be laughing if it was you Silver.]

Shiny I think it's called. I've only ever seen one, and it was a red Gyarados.

[Red Gyarados, why does that sound familiar?]

So wait, your Pokemon are suddenly shiny? How's that even

...oh, right. Malnosso.

Yeah. I suppose it could be-wait.

[Lance has finally noticed that his clothes look a bit... different. He cross the few feet to the river's edge to look down at the water.

Normally Lance is a pretty calm person, but seeing his reflection draws a surprised sound from him.]

You could have told me my hair was blue!

I thought you knew!

[Sigh.]

Have I missed anything?

...a little. Yeah. [he's not about to admit out loud how his life's changed for the better lately. It's still a little embarrassing, being so openly soft.]

[Lance blinks once, but seems to understand as he smiles faintly.]

I see. We can catch up later, then.

[When you're ready to talk about it that is.]

...sure. I guess.

Um...sorry for that joke, earlier. I forgot the Malnosso can do this sort of thing.

[Did he just... apologize?]

Don't worry about it.

[He did. Don't get too used to it, though! Stupid conscience.]

So, um...we should meet up somewhere, I guess? Where are you right now?

[He takes a moment to look around.]

Across the river from the clinic.

I'll be right there.

[It doesn't take him too long to spot Lance once he gets there. Crazy colors aside, he'd recognize that stupid hair anywhere. A little bit of annoyance bubbles up inside him...if it wasn't for Lance, he wouldn't be wrestling with these feelings to begin with.

Then he remembers how nice they are, and the anger fades.]

...hey.

[Lance waits patiently, and Silver will find him sitting by the river's edge, surrounded by his Pokemon. He looks up as he hears Silver's voice.]

Hey. I glanced through my journal some. Looks like I missed Christmas. Merry Christmas, even if its a little late.

...yeah. Same to you. [tiny smile]

[Yeah, something's definitely happened, and Lance can't help but be curious.]

So, what did I miss?

...we're alone, right? I don't want this spreading around.

[Huh. Must be serious.]

I think so, but if you're that worried about it we can always go somewhere else.

Can we?

Yeah.

[Lance pushes himself to his feet, but puts a hand to his head as it starts to throb again. Ugh.]

How about my place?

[This said as he returns Charizard and Aerodactyl. It'd probably be best for him to get back there any way and rest for a while.]

Sure. [He jams his hands in his pockets, nervous and embarrassed.] Let's go.

[The man nods and starts walking, giving Silver a pat on the shoulder as he passes. Its slow going, since he's feeling a bit under the weather, but they get there.

Once inside his apartment, with Dragonite put away as well, Lance sinks down onto the sofa. He's just happy to be out of the cold, and waits with some expectancy for Silver to speak when he's ready.]

[Silver notices this and tries not to act worried. Lance is strong.

Once they get there, it's a few minutes before he's ready to talk.]

...you were right. And it's not just about Pokemon, either. It's...well, remember how I thought being strong was more important than anything? Well, it still is, but...

[Once Silver does start talking, Lance is attentive and listens closely. He knows its hard for a proud person like Silver to admit that someone else was right. He knows all too well. When the boy pauses though, he urges him to continue.]

But?

...I have friends now. Saleh and Jeb, they gave me Christmas presents. And I met this girl, she's...really cynical and witty and you can probably see why she's my friend, if you meet her.

And Jeb...he's my family, now.

[there's an unwelcome prickly sensation in the back of his eyes...sometimes, the very idea of being loved is a bit overwhelming.]

[Lance listens, a bit surprised... amazed even, but pleased judging by the smile on his face. He then laughs, but its a happy sound, not a mocking one.]

Wow, a lot has happened. I have to admit, I'm happy, and proud to see you come this far. Good for you, Silver.

[The laughing. Silver does not approve of the laughing, happy or not.]

Yeah, well. I proved everyone wrong, didn't I? People who thought I was just a big jerk forever?

[Lance lifts a brow at that.]

Everyone? I suppose, although I certainly didn't think that way. I always knew you had potential.

...always? Even back then?

[Lance smiles again.]

Of course. It was because of that potential that I wanted to steer you in the right direction.

... [Congrats, Lance, you've just rendered Silver speechless]

[~~omg it's bizzaro Lance!~~]

... A-are you okay?

[Oh yeah, he remembers talking to this girl. Ilyana wasn't it?]

I've felt better, but I think I'm all right.

[It's a shame that Ilyana was terrible at remembering names, yet she'd have a hard time recognizing him like this.]

You looked like you were going to be sick for a moment there...

Yeah... Have you looked in a mirror lately?

The Malnosso were not so kind as to give me one when they dropped me off.

[Yeah, okay, he's taking the journal to the bathroom and holding it in front of the mirror so Lance can see his own image.]

Gold, what are you...

[Cue stunned silence as Lance sees himself in that mirror. That... can't be right. Moving over to the water, Lance looks at his reflection and nearly chokes.]

My hair is blue.

Electric blue, really. [That shit's blue.]
